For cruising fans, the introduction of a new vessel to your favourite fleet can be exciting news.

It’s also interesting to learn more about the upcoming ships, especially when one might set a new world record or introduce an industry first!   As such, for Cruise1st fans, we thought we’d compile a list of all the upcoming new ships that will be added to our site over the next two-three years.

2014:

Norwegian Getaway (Norwegian Cruise Line)

  • Passengers: 4,028
  • Maiden voyage: January 2014
  • Notable: Sister ship to Norwegian’s newly launched Breakaway ship
  • Confirmed features to include: Getaway will boast a range of wonderful features, including some of the popular elements from sister ship Breakaway, and a range of unique entertainment options too.  These include the “Illusionarium” and “The Grammy Experience.”

Regal Princess (Princess Cruises)

  • Passengers: 3,560
  • Maiden voyage: June 2014
  • Notable: Sister to new Royal Princess
  • Confirmed features to include:  Regal Princess will boast a fabulous Piazza-style atrium, elegant Anytime Dining rooms, Chef’s Table Lumiere (a glass table surrounded by an intimate curtain of light) and the new gelateria named “Gelato.”  Plus much, much more!

Quantum of the Seas (Royal Caribbean)

  • Passengers: 4,180
  • Maiden voyage: November 2014
  • Notable: First ship in Royal Caribbean’s new Quantum Class
  • Confirmed features to include:  Royal Caribbean are pulling out all the stops with this next generation ship.  Passengers will be able to enjoy the “RipCord by iFly” experience, the first-ever skydive at sea, plus there will be bumper car rides, a brand new SeaPlex (the largest indoor active space at sea) and much, much more!

2015:

Anthem of the Seas (Royal Caribbean)

  • Passengers: 4,180
  • Maiden voyage: Spring 2015
  • Notable: Sister to Quantum of the Seas, second ship in Royal Caribbean’s new Quantum Class

Unnamed (Norwegian Cruise Line)

  • Passengers: 4,200
  • Maiden voyage: October 2015
  • Notable: A larger version of Norwegian Breakaway, part of the “Breakaway Plus” series
  • Confirmed features: Will be 10% larger than the other two standard “Breakaway” ships.

Unnamed (Holland America)

  • Passengers: 2,660
  • Maiden voyage: Autumn 2015
  • Notable: The only new ship for line since 2010

2016:

Unnamed (Royal Caribbean)


  • Passengers: 5,400
  • Maiden voyage: mid-2016
  • Notable: Third in the hugely successful Oasis class series

Unnamed (Royal Caribbean)

  • Passengers: 4,180
  • Maiden voyage: mid-2016
  • Notable: Third in new Quantum class series

Carnival Vista (Carnival Cruise Lines)

  • Passengers: 4,000
  • Maiden voyage: Winter 2016
  • Notable: First new ship for line since 2012

2017:

Unnamed (Norwegian Cruise Line)

  • Passengers: 4,200
  • Maiden voyage: 2017
  • Notable: Second ship in the “Breakaway Plus” series. Will feature new eco-friendly “scrubber” technology.
  • Confirmed features: Will be 10% larger than the other two standard “Breakaway” ships.

Finally, Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Cunard Line, MSC Cruises, Oceania Cruises, Seabourn Cruise Line and Silversea Cruises currently do not have any ships on order.
