• Records held: World record for carrying over 6,000 passengers at sea. Was the largest cruise ship in the world, though Allure of the Seas now carries this record (beating Oasis by a mere 50 mm.
• Project Codename: Royal Caribbean like to give new building projects code names. Oasis of the Seas was designed under the code name “Project Genesis.”
• Drydock: Oasis of the Seas will enter drydock in the Netherlands for routine maintenance during in Spring 2014.

Oasis of the Seas comes to Europe in 2014:

While Oasis of the Seas is largely known for her exciting Caribbean Cruise routes, the ship will be making a one-off visit to Southampton in the UK after visiting Barcelona, Spain for several rare voyages around Europe in 2014, after being dry-docked in The Netherlands for maintenance:

“Oasis is to go to Rotterdam’s dry docks as part of her five-year life cycle maintenance programme and that has given us the opportunity to showcase her in European waters. We’re delighted we can do this, but there are no plans as yet for any other visits.”
