Seattle-based cruise line, Holland America Line, has this week unveiled plans for a massive $300 million fleet development programme, an initiative aimed at regenerating and improving the décor and amenities of staterooms and cabins across its Signature, Vista and R-Class ships.
The first ships in the Holland America fleet to receive the suite transformation are thought to be ms Eurodam and ms Oosterdam, which will dry dock in the Bahamas this December. After that, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Westerdam, ms Zuiderdam and ms Noordam will each receive the upgrades, with all ships expected to receive the décor and amenities facelift ahead of the 2016 cruise season.
Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line, said: “Our suites are the epitome of luxury and pampering, and the new amenities and upgrades will ensure that our suite guests continue to enjoy the finest in cruise accommodation.
“We have an ongoing programme in place to keep our ships looking fresh, but dry-docking gives us an opportunity to take enhancements to the next level to ensure we deliver the elements that make up the Holland America Line cruise experience.”
As part of the fleet-wide makeover, Holland America Line plan to make improvements to headboards, carpets and wall coverings — giving each suite a contemporary, modern aesthetic. A range of new soft furnishings, including curtains, drapes and a bed skirt will also be added to each room to add a touch of elegance, style and sophistication.
In terms of amenities; each Signature, R-Class and Vista class vessel in the Holland America Line fleet will be kitted out with USB outlets in the headboards, a new LED reading light and an interactive television system that affords guests access to on-demand movies, daily ship information and personal billing services.
