Holland America earn eight awards from Porthole Cruise Magazine

Premium cruise company Holland America Line have won eight top awards

The company cleaned up at the 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards from Porthole Cruise Magazine a few weeks ago; here’s a look at some of the featured awards – it’s easy to see why Holland America did so well:

Half Moon Cay wins “Best Private Island” award:

Did you know that Holland America’s private island Half Moon Cay has consistently won “Best Private Island” awards over the last 12 years?  It once again failed to disappoint at the 2012 awards, bringing home the gong for “Best Private Island”.

The exotic carabbean island, which celebrates it’s 15th anniversary with the company later this year, features 15 beach-front, air-conditioned private cabanas, a natural 700-acre lagoon, a new ‘Captain Morgan on the Rocks Island Bar” and plenty of fun-filled excursions for all to enjoy, whether getting back to nature is your thing or if you fancy something a little more adventurous.

Top Computing and Medical Facilities

Onboard Holland America guests can enjoy a techie program called “Digital Workshop Powered by Windows”.  The program teaches a variety of computing skills, such as photo editing, slideshow making and security.  This enrichment program won the company many fans who voted Holland America Line the “Best Computer Facilities” award with Porthole.

In addition, Holland America ships are geared up to accommodate guests with a variety of special needs, and as such, the ships feature state-of-the-art medical equipment onboard.  This commitment led the company to win the “Best Facilities for Physically Challenged Passengers” award.

Top Itineraries Win Holland America Top Honours:

Alongside winning the 2012 “Best Shore Excursions” award, Holland America received accolades for their various itineraries too, including “Best Alaska Itineraries.”  And it’s easy to see why: in 2013, the line will sale seven ships (all on unique itineraries) through Alaska.  Guests will enjoy the scenic Glacier Bay National Park, Hubbard Glacier and Alaska’s famed Inside Passage.
