Godiva’s Chocolate Café Serves Sweet Treats Onboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2

Luxury chocolate and confectionary brand Godiva has unveiled its first travel-retail café on board Cunard’s recently refurbished Queen Mary 2.

The Godiva Café will serve a range of tempting truffles, delectable sweet treats and hot and cold drinks to guests. The chocolate café’s menu includes exclusive treats created in collaboration with Cunard executive chefs, brothers Nicholas and Mark Oldroyd, and Godiva’s chef chocolatier, Philppe Daue.

Luxury confectionery at sea

“We are delighted to launch our very first marine café onboard Queen Mary 2 in collaboration with Cunard,” said Matthew Hodges, Godiva’s general manager for global travel retail.

“Godiva’s strategy is to surprise and delight the consumer continually with innovative chocolate creations and new experiences. To that end we are always searching for the best partners and we were pleased to find that Cunard shares our values of quality, heritage and innovation. We are confident that the pioneering Godiva Café on the Queen Mary 2 will prove to be a delightful and indulgent experience for her many passengers.”

Cunard’s marketing director, Angus Struthers, said: “We’re extremely pleased to be partnering with Godiva Chocolatier to launch the very first Godiva chocolate café at sea. I’m sure our guests are going to love the Godiva chocolate experience with pieces of indulgent luxury onboard the most luxurious ocean liner ever built.”

Limited edition truffle collection

In celebration of its 90th anniversary, Godiva has also launched a limited edition Anniversary Collection truffle assortment. The 12-piece truffle selection, which was created by Godiva’s chef chocolatier, Ilse Wilmots, features a range of classic mouse and multi-texture truffle pieces. Flavours include green tea, raspberry rose and pistachio mouse.

Godiva commissioned Belgian Artist, Oli-B, to work his artistic magic on the packaging for the Anniversary Collection. Speaking of his inspiration for the box design, Oli said: “I wanted to make the box colourful and joyful – 90 years in business is a cause for great celebration, so my main inspiration was fireworks and all the energy, colour and happiness that they bring.”
