Royal Caribbean is famous for its extensive wine selection, which diners enjoy with their gourmet meals of an evening. Now the company is beginning to extend their selection of beers too. We’re certain this will satisfy many of us beer-supping Brits, who enjoy a nice pint of ale more than most!
Pubs onboard Royal Caribbean International ships have added more than half a dozen brews to their menu, which holidayers will enjoy trying. The new selection includes a wheat beer from the Widmer Brothers brewery and an India pale ale from Redhook brewery, both small US breweries.
Bob Midyette, Royal Caribbean’s director of fleet beverage operations (try saying that after a few beers), says that no matter from where a passenger arrives, they like to see at least one familiar beer from home on the menu.
Belgian tourists can enjoy a pint of Trappist, which is brewed by monks in Belgium’s Chimay brewery. Australians can sup a pint of Foster’s, Japanese travellers will recognise Kirin Light, Italians can enjoy a refreshing Peroni from Italy, whilst the Danish can relax with a Carlsberg. German passengers might opt for a pint of Spaten and the Pilsner Urquell is bound to be requested by travellers from the Czech Republic.
Travellers from from the UK and Ireland can feel at home by drinking a pint of Bass Ale, Boddingtons Pub Ale, Newcastle Brown Ale, Guinness Draught, Murphy’s Stout or Harp Lager.
Teetotallers can also enjoy two new non-alcoholic brews, one from the USA and another from the Netherlands.
Dogfish Head brewery will also be providing an ale in the coming weeks which caters to passengers following a gluten-free diet!
The new beers are currently available on half of Royal Caribbean’s fleet, including in all five Voyager class ships, three Freedom class ships and two new Oasis class ships. Midyette comments that the line are considering adding pubs to more of its vessels. The line’s latest pub, named the Quill and Compass debuted last year on the recently revamped Radiance of the Seas.
