Cunard Launches Trans-Atlantic Fashion Cruise

Cruise lines are always on the look-out for something new to add to the on-board entertainment. From gourmet food and wine cruises to quirky fitness and yoga cruises, there really is an ever-expanding set of choices. To add to the range, Cunard is about to debut its first ever trans-Atlantic fashion cruise. Read on for all the exciting information.

Sailing in style

The ‘fashion cruise’ will take place on Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2. It’s definitely suitable for the occasion, with a vast array of elegant suites, six fabulous restaurants and two lively bars. The ship’s 14 decks also boast a spa, the biggest at-sea library and even a planetarium. On the cruise, Queen Mary 2 will play host to some of the biggest names in fashion:

• Zandra Rhodes – British designer whose clients include Princess Diana, Freddie Mercury, Kyle Minogue, and Joan Rivers.
• Colin McDowell – renowned fashion commentator, journalist and historian.
• Gail Sackloff – a leading fashion consultant and former merchandiser for Saks Fifth Avenue.
• Fern Mallis – the creator of New York Fashion Week as we know it.
• A collection of Storm runway models

Also on-board the fashion cruise will be a group of post-graduate students from the Royal College of Art, who will be presenting their latest collections. The big names won’t just be spectating though. Mallis and McDowell will be hosting their own talks. Zandra Rhodes, on the other hand, will present a spectacular show with the Storm models.

New York Fashion Week

The fashion week itself begins on September 9^th. The cruise will set sail just over a week before, on September 1^st, from Southampton. Arriving in Brooklyn a day before the proceedings begin, on September 8^th, passengers will be able to enjoy seven nights on the incredible liner.
