Cunard Celebrates 175th Birthday with New Itineraries

To mark their 175th year at sea, Cunard Line have announced eight new cruise itineraries aboard flagship Queen Mary 2 and two exclusive voyages for the Queen Victoria set for November 2015.

Cruising between New York and Southampton, the trips take in a number of unique itineraries throughout the Atlantic and Caribbean. Three of the itineraries are transatlantic trips between these two historic port cities.

The first of these special itineraries is the Transatlantic Roundtrip starting and ending in New York via Southampton. The 14 night cruise sets sail on 29 October 2015 and treats passengers to the unparalleled sophistication of the Queen Mary 2.

On 25 November 2015, the Queen Victoria will transport passengers on the Atlantic Islands cruise, travelling around a selection of the most beautiful destinations in the Atlantic including Madeira, the Canary Islands and Ponta Delgada.

Four of the special cruises visit the Eastern Caribbean, taking in the beautiful islands of St Thomas, St Maarten, St Kitts, Tortola and Amber Cove from the home ports of Southampton and New York.

Cunard was founded in 1840 by British Canadian shipping magnate Samuel Cunard when the line’s first steamboat, the Britannia, sailed from Liverpool, UK to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Samuel Cunard and 63 other passengers were aboard this first voyage. Recognised for speed and safety, Cunard Line proved to be a success in an age where many competitors were struggling to maintain a positive reputation and even keep ships afloat.

Cunard now operates a four ship fleet, with the Queens Mary 2, Victoria and Elizabeth flying the flag for sophisticated cruise holidays.
