Which Cruise Ships Have Golf Simulators?

Being a few hundred nautical miles from the nearest coast doesn’t mean you have to miss your weekly round of 18. And just because you’re floating in the middle of the Caribbean Sea doesn’t mean that your golf game and your handicap has to suffer. A number of cruise ships now boast advanced golf simulators, so you can keep your drives, chips and putts sharp whilst holidaying in the lap of luxury.

But before boarding with your irons and woods in tow, here’s a list of the cruise ships which are home to golf simulators.

Royal Caribbean

Freedom of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, Navigator of the Seas, Adventure of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Brilliance of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas

Although the newer classes of ships (Oasis Class and Quantum Class) in the Royal Caribbean fleet don’t boast golf simulators, a number of ships from the Freedom, Radiance and Voyager Classes provide the perfect background to work on that swing. A nine-hole virtual course is the most commonly found golf simulator aboard the Royal Caribbean, perfect for getting in a few birdies before lunch.

Cunard Line

Queen Mary 2

The flagship of the Cunard Line fleet, Queen Mary 2, is home to the line’s only golf simulator, an 18-hole course known as The Fairways. The laid-back and sophisticated atmosphere of the much-loved QM2 lends itself perfectly to a relaxed round. Golf fans can also enjoy the on-board mini golf course and daily golfing challenges.

Princess Cruises

Grand Princess, Star Princess, Sapphire Princess, Caribbean Princess, Coral Princess, Dawn Princess

The Princess Cruises fleet is home to a number of different golf simulators, from proudly-displayed virtual golf games on the Sun Deck to more hidden variations lurking underneath. The pick of the bunch is found on the Dawn Princess, which allows dedicated golfers to try their hand on 18 of the world’s top golf courses – perfect practice for the Masters.

Carnival Cruises

Carnival Spirit

Alongside the golfing amenities found aboard the Carnival Spirit, there are also golf professionals found aboard every member of the fleet. So whether you’re looking for a few tips to perfect your game or are completely new to the sport, a Carnival Cruise could be the ideal chance to improve your swing and close in on a scratch handicap.

Many itineraries include the chance to enjoy excursions out to some of the world’s best-loved golf courses, where the pros will teach you a thing or two. Sounds like a decent job to us.

P&O Cruises

Aurora

Although there are golf nets aboard all members of the P&O Cruises fleet, the Aurora is the only ship to feature a computerised simulator to give you the real experience. P&O will allow you to bring your own golfing equipment aboard their fleet but do suggest that you don’t bring golf shoes to wear whilst simulating golf.

MSC Cruises

MSC Sinfonia

MSC Sinfonia is the only ship in the MSC Cruises fleet to feature a golf simulator as part of its high-tech fun selection (alongside the 4D cinema, which we’d also recommend). We’re not entirely sure why the Sinfonia is the only member of the fleet to have a simulator, when it is near-enough identical to sister ships, Armonia, Lirica and Opera.

So now you know, you don’t need to choose between a cruise or a golfing holiday in the Algarve, it is possible to have the best of both worlds. If you’ve picked your favourite golf simulator-ready ship, why not head over to our homepage for a great range of deals or call our dedicated sales team on 0808 2746 777.
