Cruise Passengers Strike it Rich

Casinos which wouldn’t look out of place on the Las Vegas strip have become a mainstay aboard many of the world’s largest and most luxurious cruise ships, with passengers able to enjoy the thrills and spills of slot machines, roulette tables and card games.

A study has revealed an average of £193,600 is won by passengers in the on-board casino during cruise holidays. Almost half of those interviewed revealed the main reason for their participation in gambling was the excellent casino/slot machine facilities.

The study was conducted amongst people aged 22 years and above who have enjoyed a cruise holiday in the last five years. It was discovered that 79% of those interviewed had taken advantage of the casino facilities aboard their ship at least once.

As well as the excellent facilities, the cruise passengers revealed another major reason to visit the on-board casino was the social aspect, enjoying a flutter with family and friends. The average winning (before spend) per passenger was £58 each.

Huge Casinos

Unsurprisingly, the largest casino at sea is aboard the Oasis class of ships from Royal Caribbean (the largest passenger ships in the world). With 450 slot machines and extensive game tables including blackjack, roulette, craps and Caribbean Stud Poker; you’ll be able to find everything you’d expect from a top class casino and more!

The attractive casino also includes a ‘Museum of Gaming’ themed walkway entrance which explores the history of gambling. The main casino lounge has amethyst tone themes and includes huge sculptures and chandeliers throughout the bar area, poker room and players’ club.

Huge Winnings

Carnival Cruises’ casinos operate the largest slot machine jackpots on the seas on their Mega Cash machines. Players routinely win enough to cover the costs of their next cruise with one lucky passenger netting an amazing $1,065,428 in the casino. The cruise line operates a free Ocean Player’s Club – a membership scheme entitling passengers to a great selection of special VIP privileges, promotions, specials and cash-back rewards.
