From spring 2015 British-based Cruise & Maritime Voyages will have a new flagship ship. The 1,250-passenger ‘Grand Holiday’ is to be re-named ‘Magellan’ and will join adult-only Cruise & Maritime Voyages 800-passenger Marco Polo, 600-passenger Astor and 550-passenger Azores.
On March 15, 2015, Magellan will set sail from London Tilbury. The maiden Cruise & Maritime Voyages trip will commence with a 12-night cruise to Iceland and the Faroes for the Solar Eclipse and Northern Lights.
Although Magellan’s homeport will be London Tlbury, it will also sail from Newcastle upon Tyne and Dundee.
Built in 1985 and refitted in 2010, Magellan has nine passenger decks, wooden decking, two dining rooms and an informal bistro.
There is a nightclub, casino and three lounge bars and the main show lounge is tiered over two decks.
Also on-board are two swimming pools, three hot tubs, a gym, wellness centre and beauty salon, shops, internet hub, library and medical centre.
Magellan will join Cruise & Maritime Voyages growing ocean fleet to expand and develop their presence in the UK and wider international markets.
