As the world’s largest cruise review site, we take everything Cruise Critic has to say pretty seriously. So when it reveals the results of its annual UK Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards, we’re all ears! Which lines won over passengers this year? Read on for the scoop on what companies blew the competition clean out the water…
Clearly one of the nation’s favourite companies, Norwegian Cruise Line sailed away with no less than eight awards. No doubt it had something to do with the fact that in 2017, it will treat the UK to a dedicated ship sailing from Southampton. Norwegian Spirit won Best Overall in the Large Ship category award, while Norwegian Escape was honoured with the Best Entertainment award. With Tony award winning shows up its sleeve, it’s no wonder Norwegian was named the maestro of at sea entertainment.
The commendations continued with Norwegian Sun scooping three Mid-Size Ship awards, including Best Entertainment, Best Cruise Ships for Fitness & Recreation and Best Cruise Ship Shore Excursions. Norwegian Spirit also cleaned in the ‘Large’ category, winning the Best Cruise Ships for Value award, as well as several other top honours.
New for 2016, the Best for First-Timers award went to P&O Cruises’ Arcadia. The ship offers passengers a myriad of global itineraries, from San Francisco and Auckland to Hong Kong, Cape Town and beyond. It’s all part of the line’s new world cruise offering in 2016, designed to take passengers further than ever!
“These awards offer a valuable stamp of approval from travellers, and celebrate the lines which are truly excelling,” explained Adam Coulter, UK editor, Cruise Critic. “The feedback and reviews shared on Cruise Critic help travellers to be better informed and feel more confident about their decisions, making it easier to plan a great cruise holiday.”
When it comes to accommodation, Celebrity Reflection was bestowed with the Best Cruise Ship Cabins award for the large ship category. With its spacious footprints, luxe furnishings and boutique style décor, it’s not hard to see why it won over cruisers. Island Princess clearly impressed with its cuisine, winning the Best Cruise Ships for Dining (large) award, as well as top honours for Best Cruise Ships for Service.
