Carnival Destiny to be given the “Fun Ship 2” treatment

Carnival Destiny will transform into “Carnival Sunshine”

Another of Carnival’s cruise ships, Carnival Destiny, is being given the ‘Fun Ship 2’ treatment next year.  Carnival Sunshine (as she be known after the transformation) will be the start of a new era in ‘fun ship’ cruising.

What can Carnival Sunshine guests expect?

With the usual extensive food and beverage options from snacks to full service restaurants, you can eat somewhere different each night and enjoy a cocktail or two whilst traversing the ocean.

After all that indulgence if you feel the need for some quiet relaxation, the three level ‘Serenity’ is an adults only retreat, with a whirlpool, cascading waterfall and plush comfortable chairs from which to contemplate the magnificent sea views.

Whilst you are relaxing there’s plenty for the kids to do.  Kids of all ages (including adults) will enjoy the WaterWorks on the top deck which offers a water play area, and Carnivals iconic ‘Twister’ water slide and otherr fun features.

For those wanting to stay dry, Sports Square is an open aired recreational area which offers a rope course, crazy golf, jogging area, table tennis and a large flat screen for those who need to keep up to date with the latest sports games and results.

Carnival Sunshine will also offer “Dive-in Movies” at the poolside theatre with a 270 sq ft high tech LED screen offering nightly screenings and a variety of concerts and sporting events in the open air, in the middle of the ocean!

“This is our most ambitious ship conversion project to date and it will radically transform the Carnival Destiny into essentially an entirely new ship offering a variety of exciting dining and beverage choices, spectacular outdoor spaces and entertainment options, and on-board innovations not available anywhere else”

– Gerry Cahill, Carnival president and CEO.

What makes Carnival Fun Ships so “fun” ?

Carnival Sunshine’s Fun Ship 2. program is an ambitious plan to bring new dining options, bars, entertainment and more to ships all across the fleet.  Carnival Sunshine will receive EVERY (yes every!) fun, new aspect of that new program.

Carnival says that Sunshine passengers can “chow down” on Guy-Fieri-designed burgers for lunch, sip cool drinks at the BlueIguana Tequila Bar or laugh at George Lopez-approved comedy talent. The whole family can enjoy a host of sports — interactive or televised — at the EA SPORTS Bar.  And much, much more!

Carnival Sunshine will sail in Europe from April to October 2013 then reposition to New Orleans for year around Caribbean voyages beginning in November.
