Carnival Announces a New Destination to its Cruise Itineraries

Carnival has announced that it will visit the Caribbean destination of Tobago for the first time during their thirteen day Carnival Sunshine cruise in February 2016.

1,620 miles south of Miami, it is the smaller and less developed of the two islands that make up the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Too far to be included in a short cruise, Carnival have announced a thirteen day round trip itinerary, sailing out of Port Canaveral, that also includes stops in St Maarten, Dominica, Barbados, Grenada, Martinique, St. Kitts and St. Thomas

Tobago itself is mainly a beach and diving destination, and offers the chance to see a less developed Caribbean destination, while the whole cruise itself takes in a selection of the region’s most famous and beautiful islands.

This new itinerary comes as a result of Carnival Cruise Lines continuing to increase the duration and complexity of their trips, in the hope of reinvigorating popular Caribbean routes and to attract both new customers and to entice more repeat custom from previous passengers.

A further new itinerary sees the Carnival Glory departing from Miami on Halloween of next year for a round trip that and includes stops in Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.

The 2015/2016 cruises announced by Carnival include 11 routes longer than their typical five to eight day trip, with six ships offering trips of between ten and fourteen days.

Overall, Carnival operates over 1600 Caribbean cruises per year.
