Britannia to Play Host to Saturday Night Takeaway

The P&O Britannia is set to be the special guest and setting for a special episode of Ant and Dec’s long-running family show, Saturday Night Takeaway. Filmed in front of a live audience aboard P&O’s flagship whilst it is docked in Barcelona, the episode will take place on 2 April 2016.

As part of a two week roundtrip around the Mediterranean from Southampton, the Barcelona port call will give guests the chance to enjoy the madcap antics of the cheeky Geordie duo up close and personal. The Britannia will still be fresh from celebrating her 1st birthday on the 10 March 2016, having been launched by Her Majesty the Queen, a year previously.

As the largest ship of the P&O fleet, and the largest which homeports at Southampton, the Britannia has become a popular sight around the south coast of the UK since her launch. The ship has also quickly become a popular stomping ground for television crews, with Marco Pierre White’s celebrity cooking show, Battlechefs, due to be filmed aboard the Britannia.

The episode will be a part of the 13th series of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, as the variety show continues to entertain audiences up and down the country. The show is perhaps best known for annually scooping gongs at the British Academy Television Awards for Best Entertainment Performance and Best Entertainment Programme.

Saturday Night Takeaway’s Executive Producer, Pete Ogden, enthused: “I am thrilled to be working with P&O Cruises to shoot a live episode of the series on board Britannia. It is a huge undertaking, but I am confident that we will work together to make it a spectacular event.”

The show has recently been adapted for American audiences, in the form of Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, presented by the star of How I Met Your Mother, alongside former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger.
