Since the concept was first envisaged in 2009, Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas has been surrounded by a cloud of excitement! The next generation ‘smartship’ pushes the boundaries of contemporary cruising and takes the idea of at-sea technology to a whole new level. On November 14 the 1,139 foot megaliner finally took to the waters in an official naming and christening ceremony held at New Jersey’s Cape Liberty Port. To celebrate its debut season, we’ve put together a collection of our favourite videos that have emerged since the event took place. Check them out below!

To celebrate the launch of its highly anticipated vessel Royal Caribbean rounded up a number of well-known faces and invited them to offer the public special coverage of its pride and joy. Joining the crew was one of Canada’s most popular YouTube sensations, Matthew Santoro. He offers viewers an overview of some of Quantum’s most exciting highlights, all accompanied by his trademark tongue in cheek commentary!

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to captain a billion dollar cruise ship now is your chance to find out! Wildly popular tech site Red Ferret was one of many special guests to be invited aboard Quantum of the Seas and enjoyed a VIP tour of the ship’s bridge. The video includes visual insight into the surroundings as well as an exclusive interview with the captain himself!

“We expected to be wowed, but we didn’t expect to be so impressed with the sheer scale of the ship and it’s systems, nor did we expect the visit to the bridge to be so totally awesome,” gushes Red Ferret.
