5 Crazy Cruise Themes for 2015

Were you under the impression that cruising was all about lounging around by the pool, sipping on cocktails and indulging in spa treatments. Think again! While these slow paced activities are definitely possible the past few years have seen a new form of cruising emerge – themed voyages. Fun, exciting and utterly interesting, themed cruises offer passengers a chance to sail the high seas while exploring a long-standing interest or brand new pursuit. So what’s on the cards for 2015? Here are some of the craziest concepts!

Zumba Cruise – Royal Caribbean

Want to trim down and tone up? On March 23, Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas will be cruising out of Tampa to the sound of some seriously upbeat Zumba tunes. The entire four night cruise revolves around the wildly popular dance fitness program which was originally created in the 1990s by Colombian dancer and choreographer, Alberto “Beto” Perez. With a stopover at the lively port of Cozumel, Mexico, passengers will be feeling in the Zumba mood in no time at all!

New England Patriots Fan Cruise – Celebrity Cruises

After a legendary victory at the 2015 Super Bowl The Patriots are continuing the party with a seven night eastern Caribbean cruise on-board the Celebrity Silhouette. The revelries kick off on March 15 and will see ex-players Scott Zolak, Peter Brock, Joe Andruzzi, Patrick Pass and Steve Nelson join the celebrations. Passengers will spend their days belting out karaoke tunes, competing in football games and exploring San Juan, St. Kitts, and St. Maarten.

Dancing With the Stars: At Sea – Holland America Line

We’ve seen it captivate viewers across the nation and now, Holland America is giving passengers a chance to live out all their Dancing with the Stars fantasies. Every themed cruise features celebrity appearances, dance lessons, performances and a fully-fledged dance competition as seen on TV. In January 2016 the reigning champions from each cruise will congregate on-board MS Nieuw Amsterdam and compete for their very own Mirrorball Trophy.

Country Music Cruise – Norwegian Cruise Line

Can’t get enough of that good ol’ country twang? This year Norwegian Sky will be hosting the third annual ‘Best Country Cruise Ever’ hosted by the legendary Neal McCoy. Over seven nights passengers will be treated to the sweet sounds of 30 acts putting on up to 100 performances. Q&A sessions, meet and greets and line dancing are sure to make this a voyage to remember!

Property Brothers Cruise – Carnival

When it comes to ‘crazy’ cruise themes this one quite possible takes the cake. This November renovation gurus and HGTV “Property Brothers” stars Jonathan and Drew Scott will host their very own four day cruise on-board the Carnival Ecstasy. Marketed as ‘Sailing with the Scotts,’ the four day voyage will give passengers a chance to mingle with the gents and tap into their wealth of DIY home renovation knowledge.
