The cheeky chap of celebrity cuisine is making his first cruise ship appearances on the Quantum Class of ships with his eponymous Jamie’s Italian eateries. Jamie Oliver’s laid-back Italian restaurant has proven to be a huge hit on the shore with more than 35 franchises throughout the country offering fresh pasta, pizza, meat and seafood dishes.
Jamie’s Oliver is one of the seven paid-for restaurants aboard the Anthem of the Seas, alongside Michael’s Genuine Pub, Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine, Prime Table, Chops Grille, Izumi Japanese Cuisine and Johnny Rockets burger chain.
Flanking the Royal Esplanade on Deck 5, Jamie’s Italian is at the very heart of the ship, close to other restaurants, bars and shops. Although it will not be included in the Rotational Dining system utilised by the Anthem of the Seas, Jamie’s Italian is bound to be popular thanks to its namesake’s reputation and family-friendly menu.
Gennaro Contaldo, who has long mentored Oliver, adds substance and authenticity to the Italian menu. Using tried and tested Italian recipes and techniques – the menu combines Contaldo’s unparalleled knowledge of Italian cuisine with unique flairs and twists provided by Oliver.
The extensive wine list offered by Jamie’s Italian is another nod to one of the great passions of the Italian people. With reds, whites, and rosés sourced from Italy’s best loved and most respected vineyards, the restaurant offers a true, authentic reflection of Italian dining.
The first Jamie’s Italian opened in Oxford in 2008 realising a lifelong dream for Oliver who has always had a passion for the love of food enjoyed by the Italian people. Spending her first season sailing through the Mediterranean, the restaurant managers and operations team have the potential to locally-source all the ingredients which go into the items on the Jamie’s Italian menu.
